Advantages of using frequency converter

By 2021.12.07

1. Capable of soft start and soft stop: the acceleration and deceleration time of the inverter can be set arbitrarily between 0.1-6500.0 seconds. The inverter needs to set proper acceleration and deceleration time during operation.

2. Quick and accurate startup and shutdown: low startup current and low motor heating. The capacity determines the acceleration and deceleration time. The capacity level of the motor and inverter should be increased, and the proportional relationship between the acceleration and deceleration time and the load should be adjusted.

3. It can easily realize the forward and reverse rotation: the steering switch is performed by the IGBT, so the loss of the original contactor disappears, and reliable interlocking operation can be carried out. When used in elevators, a motor with a brake should be used, and a mechanical holding mechanism should be provided when changing the direction of rotation.

4. It can be electrically braked: Since the mechanical energy can be converted into electrical energy in the frequency converter when decelerating, the motor will automatically brake. DC braking is applied to the motor at zero speed, which can quickly stop the free-running motor. The frequency converter only has 20% of the braking force. When the braking force needs to be increased, an external braking unit and braking resistor should be added. The inverter with built-in braking unit only needs to add a braking resistor.

5. The motor speed can be adjusted in harsh environments: because three-phase asynchronous motors can be used, explosion-proof, submersible or special-shaped motors can be conveniently used. Explosion-proof motors should be certified for explosion-proof tests with inverters. The universal inverters produced by our company are not explosion-proof.

6. One frequency converter can control the speed of multiple motors: the frequency converter can control the speed of multiple motors at the same time. The rated current of the inverter should be greater than 1.1 times the total current of the motor. Due to the different characteristics and loads of the asynchronous motor at the same frequency, the speed will be different. At the same time, each motor should be heated with an overload relay to protect the motor.

7. The power supply capacity when the motor starts does not need to be too large: unlike the industrial frequency power supply which has a large starting current (5-6 times the rated motor), it does not exceed 100-150% of the rated current of the motor when the frequency conversion starts.
